Need advice quick!!!

I have just recently purchased a new 2013 Explorer. I have noticed the whining noise between 3rd and 4th gear that another forum member has posted. The dealer has checked everything out and I have been told it is a normal noise and nothing is wrong with the vehicle per ford company. I don't know what to do next. I have discussed with them that this can't possible be a normal sound or problem and have asked for them to get me another like car without the noise. Is this reasonable?

You should test drive another Explorer on the dealership lot and see if it makes the same noise to be sure.

I did test drive 2 2012's before getting this one and did not notice the noise. The dealership drove the one on their lot and said it made same noise but not as loud.

I don't have a 2013, but the transmission my 2011 makes absolutely no noise whatsoever.

I have a 2013 and I don't notice any noise at all. Were the 2 2012's you test drove from a different dealership or the same place? Did you mention it that the ones you test drove didn't make any noise? Are you using the A/C while driving when it makes the noise? My 2013 is a little louder when shifting when I have the A/C running, but I believe that's due to the fan running and it's normal.

Hello Vdavis,

My wife and I tested two EXs prior purchasing ours, now with 4.5K miles. We did not noticed any noise whatsoever from any of the car components.

We both are car noise "freaks" and during the timewe have been driving ours, not a single squeak, not even tbe rain noise when it pours.
