i dont see why they are any different.... i replaced my own fuel pump and this was in our 96 last year.....

befroe just replacing it, i would first go and actually determine if it is the fel pump or not, its quite anexpensive alternative and may not be the problem... on hotter days, our fuel pump relay would stick, we replaced the relay and all is better now

The fuel pump in the 4 door 95-97 Explorers are the same. The 2 Door models for that year are also the same. Why not get a new one from your local parts store.

Check the relay under the hood for the fuel pump and also make sure the "trip switch" that shuts the FP off in an accident didn't activate. It's just a button to push to reset. I'd check out all electrical possibilities before even jumping to the FP being bad first.....

blee1099 i wish i could but my rent is got to be paid on the 1st and my wife needs the truck for school. but thanks all for trying to help.i will check the relay to see if its bad and the reset botton

Also, make sure that the plug is on firmly on the bottom of the intertia (trip) switch. Replacing the tank pump is the very last thing you should do.
