I installed the BBK Computer with the adjustable timing today. After the install the motor would not start. the fuel pump kicks in and the motor turns over but no start. I then unhooked the BBK Computer and reconnected the stock wiring, but still no start. I’m thinking that I may have shorted something.

Do you have another aftermarket chip connected to the computer, or just the BBK unit?

I didn't do much of my computer wiring myself, so unfortunately I probably won't be much help.

No, I did not have any after market computer chip installed. One area that has been on my mind about this ordeal is regarding the CKP sensor wiring. Where I spliced into the line, the wires were wrapped in a foil. This is about 18 inches from the CKP Sensor it self. When I returned the wiring to stock, disconnected the BBK and reconnected the original wiring, I did not replace the foil wrap. I wander if this could lead to my problem. This is causing quite the headache. And thanks for responding Alec, your insight is always appreciated and very helpful. Do you know where I might be able to inquire regarding my predicament if you are unable to assist?

Eric

Have you tried calling BBK directly? They answered most of my questions when I was doing my install.

No, I have not tried calling BBK. I will do that tomorrow, I’m taking the day off from work to hopefully solve this dilemma. But I do need some help in where to start.

Called BBK today. They want a faxed copy of my receipt before they will talk with me. Two problems with that, I don’t have transportation to a fax machine and I can’t find my damn receipt. No help from BBK.

If the CKP is malfunctioning, will it cause there to be no spark?

OK, I made sure that the area that I spliced into was returned to the way it was originally, replaced the foil that the wire was wrapped in. Now the truck will start.

So, I then spliced into the wires just a couple of inches from the ICM (the colors of the wires from the CPK are dark blue and gray). But again no start. Returned the wiring to the way it was originally and the truck started.

Scratching my head as to what the problem is when trying to instal the BBK computer. Any help would be appreciated.

What exactly is the CPK (sorry)?

So if the problem is directly related to that, maybe that sensor is very load dependent and your splices are affecting the signal.

CKP (CPK is a typo, sorry) Crankshaft Position Sensor. If the CKP is load dependent, then what form of connection would you recommend. And how can I find out if the sensor is load dependent?

Figured it was the crank sensor.

So now you're running with everything hooked up except that, or did you unhook all the other wires too? I dunno what to tell you, I didn't do my wiring myself and don't have experience with that part of the install.
