First of all, I have done a lot of searching, but can't find enough info. I don't know a whole lot about amps, and need help choosing one. I have the mtx thunderform with the thunder 6000 speaker (250W rms). I have narrowed it down to these, but I'm not sure if they are all good. Should I avoid any of them? I want something good, but not too expensive, and not any junk. I don't know all of the brands either, so any other suggestions would be appreciated.

What's the ohm load of the sub?

I like US Acoustics, great products, great value. the 600D is $165 shipped from thezeb.com, they have great customer service. The 600D will give you 250-400wrms, depending on your ohm load.

4 ohms, but I would like to get something that would allow me to upgrade to a 2-ohm load in the future.

I'd go with the US Acoustics 800D, if you're thinking of upgrading. I believe it's 600x1 at 2 ohms, and 400x2 at 4 ohms. I took it to 1 ohm and it didn't get hot. I like it.

taking an amp below its manufacturer rated minimum impedence usual voids the warranty, I reccomend not doing it.....

I haved the thunderform too and think the 600D would be a good choice based on specs and other suggestions on this board. I'd suggest the same same amp I have (see signature) but its not 2 ohm stable like you want. I can vouch that appox 300rms from a small class D (or T) amp that fits under seat that has remote base control is a good match for the mtx thunderform/6000. It can cause your mirror to shake if you want it to without distortion.

You're right, but there's no way for them to know, and it isn't really dropping below specs, or short circuit protection would kick in. The really important thing is that it doesn't heat up. I have a fan blowing directly on it, and I rarely play it hard. Good advice for the general audio guy, though.

Thanks a lot for all the info. I have narrowed it down to these, but am leaning toward the US Acoustics because of the price. Also, doesn't US Acoustics have a 3-yr warrranty?
