theres this 98 explorer I looked at the other day. Its got a lift and nice size tires from 30-32s (didnt get much time to see it). Well I called and talked to a sales rep and he said that his garage checked it out and it wasnt 4x4... so im like wtf. I was wondering if maybe they could just be mistaken and how Could I tell if it is? Im new to the 4x4 scene so I dont know much. How costly/hard would it be to make it 4x4? any help would be appreciated asap.

I'll spare you the death threats for posting in the 911 forum. Someone else will deliver :D

To tell if it's a 4x4, get down there and see if there's a front driveshaft. Why convert it? It'll end up costing more than just buying a 4x4.

not a 911 situation as per the rules on this site... but

its expensive to convert it to a 4x4, if you really want a 4x4, save up the money and get one.... if it only has between 30-32" tires, it probably has no lift at all, or a mild torsion bar twist and an add-a-leaf or shackles in the rear.....

sorry bout the 911 thing.... didnt take the time to read the rules yet... will do now

are they auto 4x4 or something?

if its a 97 or later its auto 4x4 or AWD, depending on the engine
