so i am thinking of adding a couple square marker lights under my rear bumper , the ones you can pick up at wal-mart for around 2 bucks each.....
and i was wondering how the world i can wire them to flash with my turn signals AND
Light up when brake pedal is pressed......thats all.

the square marker light has a postive and a neg. wire...how can i wire this to do what i want.....or is it even possible??

thanks
ryan

The problem with those type of lights is they only have one filament in the bulb. That means they can only be hooked up to one of your ideas.

If you hook them up to the tail lights, they won't get any brighter if you hook a wire into them from the brakes. The easy way to hook them up to tails/or brakes is to connect a wire directly from the brake light wire, or the tail light wire. Then ground the other wire to the vehicle chassis.

hmmm i see.

what if i can find a marker light that houses a 194, but has 2 power inputs and 1 ground.

it seems like i've seen something like this at wal-mart, its more expensive like 4 bucks but might suit my needs....

1 of the power wires from turn signal
1 of the poewr wires from the brake light
1 ground wire

however i wonder what the light would do when the turn signal is on but the brakes are pressed....would the light be on or flash....gezzzzzzzzz it probably wont' work....dang i probably am stuck doing only one..

The turn signal flashes the brake lights. The three wire light would work as you want it to.
With headlights on, the brake light would apply in addition to the tails when the brake is pressed:)

You could try and put some diodes in line. Diodes only allow current flow in one direction. If you were to put two diodes, one end of each onto the incoming signals (indicator and brake) and the other ends connected together onto the light then it WILL work. Just make sure you buy diodes with a suitable wattage. There is one catch with this setup. Diodes have a 0.6V drop across them so you will end up will a slightly lower voltage across the lamp. This may not be enough to affect the brightness of the lamp, i've never tried it so I don't know.

When I read the first post, it seemed like you only want to light to work as a brake light and turn signal light. This is the same filament on the stock bulb on your X, like my '94. We do not have the seperate turn and brake lights of the 95 and up.

The only time you would need to go to a two filament bulb in your extra lights is if you want them to be on as tail lights as well.

If you only want the turn/brake application, the cheaper single filaments will do fine.

I added extras to the rear and mid sides of my 33' fifth wheel. Same tail light configuration as my X, shared turn/brake filament in the bulb.

Works great.
