I have been having brake fluid leak out of my 02 V6 Explorer for a few weeks now and have been adding fluid as needed. There appears to be fluid leaking around this sensor in front of the brake booster. Can someone tell me what this sensor is and if there is anything else I should know or look for when replacing it?

cruise control brake switch
See the blue wire harness attached to it? That was a recall by Ford...
these brake switches can leak brake fluid
Brake fluid is FLAMMABLE
that is why Ford had to go back and add that wire harness with the fuses in it because these trucks were catching fire and burning up homes and families
The brake switch is powered by battery power at all times = not too smart

So you need a new brake switch for your master cylinder, or at least a new O ring
