I bought a set of Hella 500's and they won't work. I have them wired to my fog lamp switch, but I don't have the fog lamps anymore so I want to use that switch for the 500's. When I connect the power(trigger)wire from the relay to the power wire of the fog lamp switch I can hear the relay click, but the lights don't turn on. Both lights are grounded and the relay is grounded. I know the ground is good because my lumalite is on that and if the ground was bad then the relay would not flip over anyway. I followed the instructions, but they are a bit unclear. The bulbs are good so now what? the instructionx saw to mount the trigger wire to the high beams....might that be the problem? I also checked the power line fuse and it is good.

HELP!

I myself would check the relay and how you have it hooked up. Is it at all possible that maybe to mixed up the wires running power to the lights with the one from the battery. The switch would have enough power to click the relay, but not enough to turn on the lights. The Hella 500 are really a pain in the butt to install. I've had to fight with mine several times and often they still don't work. If that isn't the problem try to "reinstall" the lights. You don't need to do anything major, just double check everything and make sure it's all OK. Good Luck.

Returned them......got my new ones working on the first try.

I didn't want to start a new thread

Hey Guys,
This is kinda random but seeing as we're talking about wiring does anybody know of a spot in the firewall of a 95+ that I could run a couple wires through without drilling a new hole? I probably should make a new one but it's just an annoying task I could do withhout.

I think there is....look inside where the tranny or clutch cables run through.

I have several wires running through the firewall of my 95. Alarm, 8 guage amp, 12 guage trailer power, 2 16 guage switch wires. All of them are run through the same hole. I poked a hole in a rubber grommet containing other wiring harnesses under the driver's side dash. No drilling any holes and the rubber grommet squeezes the wires to a fairly good seal, so no leaks when it rains. If you have to run the wires on the passenger side of the truck, I don't know if there are other grommets to use, since all of my wires are on the driver's side. Hope this helps.

Right on, thanks!

Another good spot is where the hood release cable goes through the firewall.
