O.K. as some of you know we were in a wreck last weekend and the pitman arm was sheered off the steering box, so I need a new box.
I was going to put another stock one on, but a friend of mine told me about AGR Performance Steering.

Has anyone ever looked into these steering boxes, and are the worth the money?????
They are around $250.00 but if they would help the steering out I might do it.

Need advice soon since I need to get this on so we can drive it again.

perry there is really nothing differant from a stock pump and a REGULAR agr pump.... the only thing i would buy from AGR is the rock ram... hydo stearing... i wouldnt waste the 250 bucks.

EEK!!! PERRY!!! I didn't know you were in a wreck! Please please please stay away from AGR. If their steering gearbox is anything like their power steering pumps then it will be of very low quality and probably worse then the stock version, teh difference is the gearbox isn't as easy to replace with the stock unit when you realize its a piece of crap!

So is there anything better then the stock steering box out there????

Matt, I know how well your Explorer used to turn, lets see Matt on a rock and everyone yelling; "MATT TURN YOUR WHEEL" and Matt's reply is; "I'M TRYING AND IT WON'T TURN!!!!!!!".

I guess if there was something better out there people from the board would have it.

Alec = stupid sometimes, but wasn't there something about swapping in F150 steering parts to make it beefier? But that might've just been the pump, not the box.

as far as power swaping out an f150 pump will not do anything... your only gain as far as power will be is Hydro.

Some more info...

The stock Explorer/Ranger/BII box is the same as many F150s, F250s, F350s etc., believe it or not.

The stock box is actually a decent box. It is possible to modify the box and pump for more pressure and flow. Don't ask me how, because I don't know.

Talk to Rick about modding the pump as his was done when it couldn't put out the umph for the hydro assist (using my old steering box, drilled, tapped, and modified).

I would avoid ARGs Rock Ram setup as there are cheaper ways.

Unfortunately hydro assist does no good on a TTB vehicle without a lot of work.

So talk to Rick about the pump mods and look for a replacement box. That would be my advice.
