You have warped rotors. They will have to be replaced. It could be something else but that is what it sounds like to me. Try having your tires balanced (not static!!). Could be something as simple as that.

how badly is it shaking? I mean like to where the tires are wobbling and the whole explorer shakes or what?

If its balancing you probably won't feel it until you hit speeds of 50mph or greater. Its probably attributed to the caliper slide pins. They need to be removed and re-greased every couple of months. If not then they warp the rotors.

If you pull off the tire and remover the calipers that will tell you whether it is just the calipers that are binding or if the rotors are warped. Warped rotors usually have shiny sections on them where the pads make more contact than the rest of the rotor.

is this while you are braking, or just coasting? Mine was shaking when I braked moderately going 30+mph, especially while going thru a corner, after having the brakes done at 60K (new pads, rotors cut). Ford recut the rotors yesterday, and no more shakes.....

he's got the shakes!

First off. warped rotors will only effect your braking, as they aren't in contact with anything until brake pressure is applied. This will be identified by a pulsating brake pedal. Try moving the rear tires to the front. If the problem persists, you can rule out the tires. Check every piece of your suspension, all lug nuts, balance of tire/wheels, etc for slop. Ive got a '92 w/186 on it and had a bad banging from the front end when hitting bumps. Replaced the sway bar frame bushings and presto, noise is gone and rides almost like new. Hope this helps.

Sway bar frame bushings were my first thought too.
