My sport trac won't go forward. I put it in drive and it will roll once than the front wheels lock up. It goes in reverse just fine

You aren't providing much information to go on. Is it a 2WD, 4WD, AWD? Any maintenance background? Any noises or symptoms leading up to this?

As said, you're not providing much info, but one thing that comes to mind is a missing caliper bolt. They've been known to fall out if not installed with thread locker and torqued to the proper setting. This causes the caliper to rotate and jam itself against the wheel. This has even been known to break alloy wheels. It might be worth checking.

Both front wheels lock up? If so I’d suspect the differential. Probably going to require a trip to a driveline shop.

Better check the caliper bracket bolts.
