Hi,

I did a search and have been reading alot of threads in this section but I still have not found a definitive answer to what I want to know. I have a 98 XLT 4wd and the rear is sagging badly and she has the "lean" pretty bad also. I was thinking of just getting new stock leafs and warrior shackles along with a TT and mayb AAL's because once I wear out these tiny tires I want to go with 31"s maybe 32"s later when I am not doing so much highway driving. Anyway I read a thread about these 4" superlift springs part # 01-194. I was thinking what if I just got these and did the 2"TT up front? I know the rear is sagging atleast 1.5"s compared to the front now so if I lift the rear 4"s and the front 2" will they be close or will I have a really raked look? I suppose I will need some new shocks if I went with the superlift springs too. Am I correct in my thinking? I appreciate any and all advice. Thanks

Bri :exp:

If i were you I would just do the warrior shackles which provide 1.5"-2" of lift and an AAL which can provide another 1.5" or so. and then do a TT up front and that should take care of it.-Thats the cheaper way to go, leaf springs arnt cheap. Also I would get stiffer shocks. Im running the KYB Monomax shocks and I Love them, they make the truck handle like a dream and also when I put them on it sat a little higher up than other stock explorers. Here is a link to a discription of the shocks....

I highly recomend them!

Sounds good but I was thinking I needed to replace the leafs or atleast one of them as they are saggin badly. So that is why I was thinking of just getting a set of lift springs and being done with it along with the TT. I have not researched and found out how much AAL's are but I know that summit has the 4" superlift springs for 156.00 a piece. Looks like I should do some number crunching!! You may be right and the shackles, AAL's might be the best option. Along with the new shocks. Thanks for the link!!

Ok I've been thinking about what I am going to do and I am either going to have a set of leaf's made from a guy in town that I hear is reasonable in price. I'm thinking of getting him to make me some with 3" of lift. Then I will do the TT. That way it will take care of the lean I'm getting on the drivers side. I was going to just do the shackles and TT but it will not fix the lean and the lean is driving me absolutely crazy!! I will also be installing those KYB monomax shocks anybody think this is a bad idea?

If you do the shackles and tt, just flip the rear springs from side to side. (left spring becomes right spring, ext) That and adjusting the torsion bars should fix the gangsta lean...

Yeah I guess that does make sense. If I cant get springs made for a good deal then that is what I will do.

Just so you know, the AAL's will make the ride harsher, as will the tt. Shackles in the back won't hurt the ride, but if you offroad the vehicle, you may end up dragging them on the ground. A better solution for the rear is a set of lift springs. You don't lose any departure angle, and you end up with a better spring.

That is the dilemma I am dealing with. I want a decent departure angle. The truck will be going off road alot more once I get it set up the way I want it. I am definitaly leaning towards just getting new springs. I am not looking to go too tall right now since I still use the truck on the highway. I am thinking the new lift springs and the TT with 31" tires should be enough for awhile until I dedicate the truck to mostly all off-road.
