Hi: I have a 2000 Explorer Sport 2-door. My question is I have three settings on my headlights, far to the left is off or I guess has a light sensor and turns them on when dark. The middle one is parking lights I think. And far to the right turns them on if it is light enough that the far left does not turn them on but they stay on if you shut the vehicle off and take the keys out.

Is that how the settings are suppose to work?

My question is this: After I turn off the vehicle the headlights stay on for a few minutes when set on the far left setting. Is there a way to remove that function so they do not stay on?

I have a owners manual but it says nothing about that and does not seem to match up with my vehicle. Sure hope someone out there can explain it to me.

thanks, The new guy, Redman02

There is a slider on the rear-view mirror which partially controls the headlights. Turn that off -- I think "off" is all the way to the left (I forget).

Thanks

You simply need the correct owner's manual too. www.motorcraft.com. If you look yours up, it'll come up as a PDF file that you can save on your computer for future reference. :)

Yes
all the way to the left is off

Lights

Thanks to all I got it all figured out now, works great. Just put on a rear light bar below the tailgate in that 1/2 inch space for: running lights, turns, brakes, way cool in red.

Last week I put on a front deflector in smoked black and window air deflectors on the doors in smoke black looks great.

Later, all

its the timer for how long the lights stay after the vehicle is turned off. Haveing it to the far left shoud make you need to turn the lights on\off manually. Any other setting from that they come on once it gets dark enough outside for the sensor to pick it up and a timer will turn them off after some time.
