Hey whats up. I'm new here. I just purchased a 1991 Explorer for a winter vehicle. I bought it from $300 and it wasn't running very well. Spitting and sputtering bad, gas mileage was HORRIBLE. I dropped some new plug wires on it and all of that nonsense cleared up. I'm going to drop new plugs in it next week and I'm sure that will help too. So far turns out like I got a great running vehicle.

Even tho I was able to clear up the minor issues that I'm having so far I am still having some other issues. My speedo is acting up bad and I have a saggy driver side door (which I found a link for a fix already). If someone could help me out with the speedo that would be great..

Thanks.

Welcome! Explorers are great trucks. I think you will be happy with yours.

What is the speedo doing? Does it work at all? They are mechanical units and are fairly simple to replace. If it works at all, probably the magnets either have weakened or have fallen out and cannot move the needle properly. If someone had the transfer case out(i assume its 4x4), they may not have put the drive cable back in properly.

Give me some more info and i will try to help you as best i can.

The speedo works. I'm not sure how accurate it is. Now and again it will go on the fritz and stop working. Once it does that I'll just smack the dash board and it will fix it sometimes. hah

My truck is kind of a POS. Body is in rough shape, rear leaf mounts are shot, needs struts all around and ball joints in the front. The frame is decent but needs to be cleaned up. But the engine runs real good and 4x4 works great also. Needs some TLC still. But I'm working on it. If this things lasts me 1 winter then I'll get my money's worth out of it. But I'm willing to bet that I can make it last me a long time.

:D

Ill give ya $350 for it!.. he he:), but seriously, Dude you already got your moneys worth
