Need some help

Yea i have a '95 xlt and was wondering what exactly can i do to it. Do you think i should convert it to 4 wheel drive or not? The only problem is that i gotta convince my parents that i am not wasting my money so i can do stuff to it. So any info is much appreciated.

Ok if there is a lift for 95s and i put it on along with big tires wont that help prevent tipping? I think it will parents though

Lift and tall tires raise the CG
to counteract that completely you need to put some wider tires on as well

You're almost there. I'll start off by welcoming you to the site. You'll find everything all right here.

Lifting the Explorer's with torsion bars is a snap. Do a search for the "torsion twist". You'll be able to run 31's and MAYBE 32's for a cost of about 50 for the lift and then tires. To really run any larger tires than that will cost you. A body lift(sucks in my mind) will run around 100 plus some custom work, or a suspension will run a few thousand. Torsion twist is the way to go.

I see that you also play goalie. I've played for several years now in a few different leagues in Vegas, both roller and ice. Lifting the truck WILL NOT help in rolling. If anything it will increase the odds of ending up on it's side. Have you ever used Goalie Skates?? The blades are lower to the ground to help you keep your balance, and to get up quicker. Try to use some Players Skates now. The taller wheels and frame is a pain to stand on, and even harder to get up. Same goes for the Explorer. The closer to the ground the truck is, the better it handles. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it's the truth.

By no means will you flip it though if you lift it. I'd say be honest with them and tell them that its cheap and what you want. You'll keep the speeds down, and drive even more defensive than you would without the lift. You'll be fine.

How old are you? i have a friend who is playing midget AA and went to vegas a couple of places.. anyways the car is exactlly mine mine..lol, but if i get wider tries wont that help? i have to find some sources that say wider is bettter. but thanks for everything else and what brand torsion should i get along with wheels..i am very new i turned 16 last april so i am doing as much as i acn to learn everything about my car(kinda mine).

I've played a few games in the RHI(roller hockey international), and play in several tournments here. Due to lack of funds though I haven't played in awhile.

Running 31's really isn't that far off from stock. I myself run some 30's and have yet to have a problem. You're really only looking at a gain of a few inches(although they're a major few in looks). Widder will help, but isn't needed.
