Okay so in my way to work last night the heat was working fine and the explorer was running fine. On my way home I noticed I had no heat and when I turned off the radio there was a constant clicking noise whether the heat was on or off. I pulled over to check it out and I have almost no radiator coolant. When I got home I filled the radiator coolant and let the truck run for a few minutes. The heat still does not work and the clicking continues.

This morning I came back out and the radiator coolant was still full but the heat still does not work and the clicking continues. The clicking start when the key is in the in position( engine not running) and continues after I turn the engine on. It sounds like the clicking is coming somewhere in the dash.

I really have no clue what is going on. Any help would be great

I wonder if the 'clicking' might be a defective heater flap servo. When you first turn the key on those servos cycle to determine their position. When the cheap little nylon gear strips, it continuously rotates (clicking as it goes) trying to establish the flap's position, but can't.

Don't know if the coolant level had/has anything to do with your heat but if a critical flap does not open, then no hot air moves into the cab.

You may have two issues that are not related.

Thank you. Would that be something someone could fix themselves or should I just leave it up to the shop?
