Tonight, my friend backed up into my Hellas and totally wrecked them. They are shot. Now it's time for some new lights. I was looking at the ProComp 6 inch 100 watt lights in black. I need some opinions on how they perform as driving lights and stuff. But, if I could find some PIAA's at a reasonable price I would save the money I am getting for them and get the PIAA's. Also, I need to know if the Hella wiring is compatible with the Procomps and/or the PIAA's. Thanks alot in advance!

NO!

Do NOT buy Pro Comp lighting!!!
I had the 130's and within a month the weather stripping was gone and the bulb burned out twice. In a month!

Well since Matt isn't here I will answer for him. LOL I would recomend PIAA if you want something that will last and something that is good quality. You probably will have to re-wire them up but even thats an easy process. You get a much better quality wiring harness and switch with the PIAA's also.

Hella wiring WOULD be compatible with the PIAA's, but why use an inferior product? :). Geez I can't answer any more threads on lights for a while... I've gone light crazy I think :).

Matt-
Where can I find some PIAA 80 Driving lights? I have looked everywhere but no dice. Also whats the average price on them? Thanks in advance.

LOL oh I just caught that you destroyed your Hellas! Sorry for laughing... You can find 80's about anywhere... 4-wheel parts, carzone... go to altavista.com and do a search for "PIAA 80". Keep in mind there are four different PIAA 80's. THeres the PIAA 80 Racing... those are about 8" wide, have a dual-beam (hi-beam/lo-beam) and runa bout 135 watts. Then theres the 80 XT's that are a bti better then 6" wide, about 120 watts. They come in the 80 XT fogs, the 80 XT driving and the 80 XT pencil beam.Average price? Beats me, but they aren't cheap. It hink somewhere around $275 for a pair.

has anyone ever used KC lites?

KC

My friend has some KC's on his Jeep. Very tough lights and cheap. Produce good lighting. I hate those yellow covers but you can get black ones for them also.

I just finished installing a set of Hella's (sorry Matt but these were cheap) and they also were a pain in the a@# to install. None of the wires were connected or nothing. I'm not sure how bright the are yet since it's still day out. I'm just glad I only paid $50 for the things or I'd be pi#@ off. I will say this though. The next set of lights I get will NOT be Hella as of right now(that may change once I see how bright they are).

no prob leebo, I'm curious how they worked for you. I agree on the Hella installation though, pain in the butt! I installed one set in my whole life and that was it... Plus I thought just about everything on them seemed "cheap" and of course for $50 it is, but oh well... hope they work out good for you. How many watts are they? Do you know if they use H3 bulbs? If they do I've got some bulbs I can send you, but only if they are the 100 watt lights.

I hate this dang light!!!! The only thing so far that I like about them is the price. The saying that you get what you pay for is correct. I opened the box and all I see is a ton of tangled up wire, bag of parts, and two lights. I installed them and the first time I turned them on the relay blew. I thought it was my fault so I rewired them with a new relay. Blew again. Then I tested every wire for the connections and nothing was wrong. I then put the wires in the simplest way I could and they worked. Lets just hope I didn't really need the relay :). They are somewhat bright but not what I expected. I guess for $50 though plus the name its about right. Here's some good news though Matt. I do have plans right now to install some Piaa's on the bumper and rip these dang things off and install them under the truck :D. All Ya :D. That way if I break them I don't give a dang. Or should I just move this post to the "For Sale" forum????? I'll also say this. It kept me busy and cured my bordem for day though. That's good

I don't recall the Hella's I bought, but they were about $100( guess I paid for the connectors). They came with the quick connectors and were very easy to hook up. I also have a pair of 80 XL's and were also very easy to hook up. The PIAA's were much brighter but were over twice the price. Quality-wise, PIAA has got it hands down, but for value and price I'd go Hella.

So, you hate those yellow covers huh...lol....:)

Old pic, guess I need to take a new one with the smiley faces and new lights that I added:

I know, my girlfriend hates those covers and refuses to ride with me anywhere if I have them on.

Mr. Daylighter,
Nice looking truck. Dead Link Removed

Well thank you very much. Actually I've done a little bit to it since then (bigger tires and more lights), here's a pic of what it looks like now:
