need tranny advice

my transmission doesn't shift on its own i have to mess with throttle till it does so i was wondering if maybe its the rpm gauge cause the check gauge light has been coming on is there a sensor in that that would have faulty wiring or is this something more serious please help

Welcome to this forum! Find out what the code numbers are. You might have a broken band or another issue.

how do i find them is there a way without buying diagnostic equipment or paying som1 to do this

Check speed sensor and load sensor.
