Needed Rotors - but got hub and disc assembly- Is that right?

I took my 2012 explorer to the dealer for new front pads and rotors. Total cost was $469.05 just for front pads and rotors. I see on the sheet I got a "HUB AND DISC ASY".

Is that right?? I needed the hub as well?? Never heard of replacing a hub with the rotor for any car I have owned.

Unless they found something while in the midst of doing the new front rotors and pads, no you should not have needed hubs. And even then they should have reached out to you to let you know mid repair.
 












The part number should be listed. Look it up at ford parts.

Having a hub replaced at the same time could be possible if there was a problem with it, they could have tested it while the rotors were off the car.
 






Yeah the part number corresponds to the whole assembly not just the rotors. Last time I paid $105 for front pads. For me that was worth not doing it myself. That means my 2 "rotors" installed were over $300. Insane even with a 100% parrts markup.
 






The hub assembly might need to be replaced if the bearings were bad.

$469 would not have covered the cost of hub assembly replacement - that price sounds about right for front pads and rotors only.

Motorcraft is Ford's parts brand, not what's installed at the factory. There is a difference between OEM and Motorcraft parts, even if it is only in the packaging. Motorcraft parts may be sold outside of dealerships, where Ford parts are not.

The manufacturer I used to work for did the same thing. We had our OEM parts, our parts brand, and in some cases parts that were branded to match the unit they went with, even though it meant having the same part in three different packages, with three slightly different part numbers.

For my rear brakes, I was quoted something around $400 through the dealer(I replaced them for just over $100 myself).
I agree with Rob A, that seems like pads and rotors only.
 






Did some more digging and found that it does apply to replacement pads and not the OEM. Found this on a Canadian site;
