I have a 2005 Explorer XLT, V6, Automatic. Just had a Neutral Tow Kit (module) installed at my dealer so I could tow behind my RV. I towed for the first time on Friday approximately 150 miles. On Saturday drove the Explorer about 70 miles then I was cruising up the interstate at approximately 70 mph I look behind me and see a huge smoke cloud following me. I immediately pulled over and found I was leaking, what appeared to be transmission fluid which was dropping on the exhaust and creating smoke. I had no warning lights and no other indications of issues and after about 2 minutes there was no more leak. I limped back to my campsite about 4 miles away and parked. There was a slight drip, just enough for a 50 cent piece sized puddle. This morning (Sunday) I started the Explorer to hitch up (no more leak) and the battery was extremely weak, then I received a "TEST" on my information screen. It showed part #4L2T-10849-CK SN 00057417 and DTC's: 9318, D900, 9352.

I'm not sure if all this is related to the Neutral Tow Kit installation as I do not know what is involved in this installation, but it seems VERY coincidental that I have the trouble immediately after installation and also given the fact that my dealer said this was the first one they've installed.

Any suggestions?

Take it back to the dealer. They should warranty their work unless you signed some sort of waiver releasing them of liability. If they give you the run around, be prepared to light a fire and raise hell otherwise you wont see any results in your favor. My 2 cents...
