New 16 Platinum WOT vibration!?!

It is possible to have a trans that seems to function "normally" under typical driving and then shutters/vibrates under high rpm shifts.

Could be solenoid/pressure issue and/or tc issue, in addition to other problems. OP has to decide if he wants random guesses from strangers on the internet or wants to have someone local diagnose it appropriately.

Some Indy shops offer a free road test/diagnosis and that could prove invaluable to OP.

its deff the transmission slipping, looking at the carfax previous owner had the transmission checked at 100k... it sometimes slips other times not, but there is something internal.. like i said this happens only when shifting at redline almost 1st-2nd is the most noticeable

So, I bought a used transmission from a wrecked 2018 with 9k miles, I got some pics from the scrapper and they sent a tag that says NO OIL / Filter, also converter is not installed...

my question is does this transmission have a serviceable filter!? or maybe they opened the cases to check inside and removed the filter?!

can i get a part number for the filter!? thanks

You could check here - Ford Parts Dealer Vanity

There are 3 different model of transmissions in this generation, known as the 6F35 (used for models w/2.3 turbo, w/o tow pkg), 6F50 (used for models w/3.5 NA or 2.3 w/tow pkg), and the 6F55 (used for models w/3.5 NA w/tow pkg or 3.5 turbo).

You'll need to check which one you have to find the filter, I believe (I may be wrong and the filters are all same, but again, check).

This has been covered before - no "serviceable" filter on 6Fxx trannys. You have to crack the cases to replace it which would only be done if a rebuild was necessary.

Why would you buy a used tranny without proper diagnosis? Do you intend to swap it yourself? It's a pretty big job.

I had a GM trans in an early 00's minivan that did the same thing - shudder at WOT redline shift from 1-2. I never addressed it - just tried not to do WOT pulls in it and it lasted 150K miles and then someone else bought it and got another 100K out of it.

What trim was the wrecked 2018? Did it have the tow package? Remember that those without the package have a different transmission.

For the filter concern, the scrap yard told me they remove the filter from all transmissions they sell, I told them that theres no pan on this one and in order to remove the filter they must open the halves, they are checking if they did that..

so you cannot see the filter when removing the plastic black pan!?

I got the tranny for cheap, yea im swapping myself, im kinda mechanically inclined and noticed that the slips happens sometimes not always 1st to 2nd redline and 2nd-3rd redline, must be a solenoid/valve body issue, previous owner had the transmission check by the dealer 10k ago, I choose to buy a new transmission that will cost me less than rebuilding the one i have, then i can sell the old one and get some bucks back

came from a 18 Platinum 4wd, do all platinum come with the tow package?! they asked for the part number on my tranny and matches the one on the wrecked.

I tried to find the 2016 Order Guide but the link no longer works. I was trying to verify that the 2016 Sport and Platinum came with the standard factory tow package. I know the 2017 did. I believe the 2016 did as well. Good luck.

You have the right transmission, it will be the 6F55. The Platinum only came with the 3.5 ecoboost, which requires the 6F55.

the part that confuses me is that this transmissions comes with the following # on it

DA5P-7000DB ( mine and the one i bought)
DA5P-7000DA wondering the difference

According to fordparts.com they are the same thing. Automatic Transmission Assy | FordUS

Peter
It is common practice to change part #s when they make a change to the part for traceability (well, except for GM in the case of the infamous ignition switch fiasco). There is likely a difference between the DA and DB suffix parts, but I couldn't tell you what it was.

It appears the DA is for the 3.7L, in the PIU.

The strange thing is that neither number shows up in the AutoNation Ford site. They show a completely different number (DA5Z-7000-M) as indicated in my post #18. :dunno:

FoMoCo works in mysterious ways apparently.

One of the techs at my local dealer was not impressed with the wiring job in Explorers and made his feelings crystal clear when I was last there :).

The info I got was from a quick Google search and a trawl through a bit of ebay and salvage yards. Apparently the DB is for all engines, which sounds like a seller who doesn't know what they're talking about.

So this transmission is the same for all trims and from 2013!? what about the 4wd model!?

Vehicles with AWD have an additional part in their drivetrain, the PTU (Power Transfer Unit), otherwise known as a transfer case. It also happens to have at least 4 different iterations scattered throughout this generation, as the design of it is piss poor.
