- 1994 Explorer XLT
Recently purchased a relatively rust free 1994 4wd Ex. 4.0 OHV, A4LD, 1354 e-shift. I've been fabricating, machining, and turning wrenches on just about anything else with wings, wheels, or rotors for the past 25 yrs. Served 13 yrs in the Army, active duty. This is my first explorer. Already gone thru the fluids, filters, steering, alignment, suspension noises, etc. Just ironing out a couple CEL codes. Drives great though. Never realized how practical these vehicles are. I'm 6'5" and fit in the driver seat comfortably. Next on the chopping block is injectors, FPR, top end gaskets, reconditioned rockers w/ new pushrods. Already accumulating parts for a 5 speed and manual T/C swap for next year. The slushbox shifts ok, but i don't want to push my luck.
It's great to see a place like this with a wealth of experience and information from like minded folks that are willing to chip in and share. i look forward to learning and helping out when/where i can. Cheers!
