Just bought a 03 XLT 4.6 auto Explorer (Ozzie version) and yes l live in Australia , been using the search function and can't find the answers l need , What is the off set on the standard wheels and how much tyre can you fit without rubbing problems (seen so many different answers to this), the Australian version has alloy 17x7.5 rims as standard with 245/65 R17 H tyres fitted .
1 owner and only 61,000 Kms on the clock + the price was right , parts/mods are harder to get down here but will probably have a play with it down the track . Allready owned a 98 XLT and enjoyed it so l hope this one will be as good to us as the last one .

Here is a pic of it and lm told the colour is Harvest Gold ,

What is the off set on the standard wheels
- remove a wheel and lay it face-down
- set a straight edge to span the back side of the wheel (not the tire)
- use a ruler to measure the distance from the bottom of the straight edge to the surface of the wheel that bolts against the rotor.

This number can then be used to figure out the "offset" since zero offset is half the width of the wheel so it's merely a matter of division and subtraction.

the largest tire that you can fit wiithout any mods or lifts is 265/75/R16 or 265/70/R17

I have 265/65/17 nitto terra grapplers and they fill out my wheel well nicely. And contrary to what people say the tread is holding up nicely.

Thanks for that , l do know how to measure back space and l can't do that till next weekend when it arrives , that's why l was asking , thought someone might have known off the top of there head . all good and thanks for the reply on tyre sizes also.

Stock offset is +44

Thanks Kazer , thats what l needed , l have a set of 16x8 American Nitro's with 0 off set so they will stick out to far , thanks again

Look at my registry. My silver aftermarket 17s were -6 and looked fine

Great find!
On a side note I spy tow hooks... Any chance for skid plates too?(like a nbx)

And OMG that's the BIGGEST rain guard I've ever seen on anything.....

So lf l fit the 265/70/R17 tyres how far out does it make the speedo from standard ?

and Wills05xlt4x4 this is the Aussie version standard except the rain guards as you call them , most of these are that big but l have seen the little thin one starting to show up on cars but they are not as effective as the bigger ones we are used to . :-)

My 265/65/17 are barely off at all. I doubt being 1 inch taller is going to make a huge difference. Definitely not 5, youd have to go up to 33's for it to be that far off. Ive driven by a ton of those "You're going this fast" signs and its usually matched right up with my speedo. And car manufacturers generally set the speedos to be 1-2 mph faster than your actually going so you gotta factor that in.

With 265/70/17's at 100kmh (60mph) your speedo will be 6.4 km/h (4mph) slower than your stock setup.
