When replacing the battery cables, both positive and negative, do i have to fought the new cables the same as stock? Or can i cut it shorter and make a more direct path?

I don't see any problem making them shorter. They do come in different lengths at the parts store for different applications so there shouldn't be an issue but i am not by any means a professional. Hope that helps in making your decision. Andrew

If you route it with vibration, chafing, the engine moving on the mounts and hot exhaust in mind you shouldn't have an issue. I made my own battery/starter cable and routed it over the top of the engine, no issues yet.

Thanks guys,
What i ended up doing was wrapping the wires in the extra header wrap i had laying around. The negative just goes up along the frame, around the back of the filter box and straight down. My headers and pipes are wrapped in header wrap along with the wires being wrapped i don't think that will me an issue.
The positive is wires i did pretty much as you described. Routed up and over vs down and under. A couple zip ties here and there along the way. I think i fixed all my battery issues too. The old wires were torn all over the place. I hope that was my electrical problem. I will know in the morning if the truck starts...

Thanks again guys.
