New BFG ATs - review

I had BFG T/A KO's inflated to 34 psi all around. Key word, had. Went back to Michelin LTX m/s's since I couldnt stand the harsh ride quality with the BFG's when paired with California roads. I also lost a solid 2mpg in both city and highway driving with the BFG's.

Bottom-line, if you drive more on paved roads and have ride comfort high on your priority list then don't get the BFG KO's. But other than that it IS a very good trail tire

That's because people over inflate them. I see tire shops put 50 psi in them and that's what they tell the owners to run at. 50 psi will cup them bad. 35 psi is all that's needed for hwy speeds and temps.

I run my Toyo's at 55-60psi front and 65-70 psi rear for 60k miles and have had no problems. If I go with BFG ATs, I'll run them at the same pressure.

Well they will be bald in the center with fresh lugs on the sides than...lol

Wheel width plays a hand in it as well.

my Toyo At's at those pressures have an even wear pattern.

70 psi? That's pretty dangerous, especially in hot weather.

Most tires are only rated for 35-50 psi, max. That's cold pressure at average temps.

Running a 50 psi tire at 70 psi, PLUS the additional expansion caused by heat from friction and sunlight/ambient temps is testing the limits of it's safety.

Umm.. Are you talking about those load range E things you have on the diesel tow rig? :)
