I am in need of a new driveshaft cause i beat the isht out of mine a few days ago and i got dents and gouges in it that are causing some serious vibrations. Now i know i want to get one end of the shaft with a double Cardon joint so i can rotate my pinoin up and cain a little clearance under the axle while im doing it.

My question is do i need to get a double cardon on both ends of the shaft since our driveshaft goes slightly to the side and down. As i understand it you need one joint per angle it has to go through.

Also is there a SYE on the market for our t-case? When i called Tom Woods he recomended a SYE for a SOA vehicle wiht a good amount of flex.

Well first off you don't need a slip yoke eliminator. There is no slip yoke in the transfer case. And you only need a double cardan at the t-case. I've never seen a driveshaft with a double cardan at each end.

take your driveshaft down to a driveshaft shop and have them repair it, install new U joints, rebalance and grease the slip yoke. Dont drive around too long like that or you will need new bearings at the T case and rear pinion :)

Your stock driveshaft is good for quite a bit of flex and unless you are talking more then 5-6" of lift you only need to shim the pinion angle a little when you do the SOA.

i already tried the repair it route and they said no way to dented and dinged and wanted as much as a tom woods shaft to make a new one so i figured id go with tom woods instead.

im not driving it right now because it needs a new driveshaft.

So i olny need the double cardon at one end and not both? I thought tha since the explorer had a compound angle... I.E. the diff ebing offset and the pinoin and ouput being paralell we a double double cardon shaft would cure all vibraiton problems.

If all i need it one double cardon then i can get out about 100$ cheaper.

you only need it like your stock shaft.
I have a place that would rebuild it for you in two hours for about $100, thats ridiculous, have you tried others or are their none? Anydrive train shop worth $1 should be able to replace the tube and joints....

i live in a area where car shops dont want anythign to do with anything modified.

Sucks cause when someone is willing to do something for you they want to charge an outrageaous amount.

what about a junk yard?

have them buuild the new shaft with a heavier duty wall tubing as well. I destried a shaft and when I had it repaired I believe they used 120 wall tubing. I had scratches going all the way downit with out a dent or a vibration.
