New engine went kaput. Not impressed Ford!!!

Long story short. 91XL 5spd 4.0

Engine ran dry on oil when the oilpressure sending unit was hit by road debris and cracked, dumping 5 qts of oil immediately. Filled it full of Lucas after replacing sensor and got 5000 more miles out of it before it died.

Had a Ford remanufactured, with a 3 year 36000 mile warranty, waiting, so we put it in over the course of 4 weekends off and on.

I get 350 miles out of it while breaking it in and I lose a cylinder. Oil all over the plug on the # 5 cylinder. No compression at all. At least it is under warranty. Dealer is doing the work to repair, but I am sure not confident in their remanufactured engines.

Ford does not remanufacture engines. Your ***** should be with the dealership and the shop that did the work on the engine.

man oh man you can get running take outs at the junk yard with low miles (low miles for a OHV to me is 100K) for $300-500

410 is right, I got mine out of a junkyard for $300 and it had 100k on it. Just put it right in no rebuilding necessary. Runs great still with 30k more on it.

I didn't pay for the engine, work did. And it is a Ford Long block from the Ford dealer. Don't know who did the actual reman, but it has a 3/36000 mile warranty through the dealer.

Dealer is going to do the work.
