There is a slight whine on deceleration and braking in my rear end with the new 4.56 gears and new LSD. We checked the pattern and it is right in the middle (maybe a tad low). I am very confused on what it can be. Could it be the LSD? I put motorcrafts friction modifier in with the gear fluid. And for the numbers, the preload is set right and the backlash is about 8. Let me know of any advice. Also, I installed them two days ago with another mechanic, so did I allow for enough break in time?

It maybe due to your lack of backlash... 8.8 axles call for backlash of 0.010 to 0.012 in... it shouldn't be due to the lsd, it just spins with the carrier when you're not turning.

If it helps I had motive gear 4.56 gears with a new trac-lock in an 8.8 installed by a 4x4 shop and there was no whine at any time.

Just had a new set of 4.10s installed myself, picked it up an hour ago.Talked with the people that set them up about your problem.
Hope this is not the case but they feel perhaps after two days of driving, you may have trashed your gearset and they cannot be re-set, good luck man

It can't be trashed - We heard it right after we put them in. I have a warranty on the gears through Richmond Gears....so if they are for some reason - I'll get some replacements.
