New guy here with a question or two

Hi there guys im new here and im trading my car for a 2001 v6 4.0l 2wd sport trac.
My question is what sould i look for before i do the trade. Like timing belt or chain ?
Its has 76k miles. All replies will be apreciated. Thanx

figure out whether the trac is a job 1 or job 2. you can do this by getting the VIN. listen to the motor for a rattle. look up timing chain rattle on the forum to get a better picture of what this is and how you can detect it. try to get service records for the trac if possible, and look for rust on the underside. when you test drive it, feel for how it shifts. you want it to be as un-noticeable as possible. there is a ton more of things im probably missing but im sure more members will chime in.
