New here - basic explorer question

Hi there

I recently bought a used 99 explorer. Everything seems to be going well with it so far, but I can't seem to figure out how to open the rear liftgate window.

Help please? Thanks!

Tried that. The window remained locked.

I had unlocked all doors before trying.

OK then. Can I assume that since nobody else is responding, that my key cylinder is broken?

does the whole tail gate open? Mine is pretty hit or miss somedays it will work and others it won't. Sometimes locking and unlocking it again, or just hitting the unlock button several times will get mine to open.

Ditto, all of the door/hatch/window latches need lubricating occasionally. They get dirty or stiff and don't like to work any more.

The tail gate opens just fine - never had a problem with that.

You may have to take that lock apart if lubing it up does'nt work. You could get a working one from the junkyard. Copy the vin# down and have a key made for it.

Do not have different keys made. You can easily have any lock cylinder changed to match your keys, by a locksmith.
