My old intake (Ebay MAF adapter and Rezton Stainless Filter) was not good enough for me and I felt like it needed more. I wanted to add a heat shield and something to draw cool air from the fender so I did.

The ideas for the shield came from the K&N intakes and are so famous. I wanted something to block hot air from the filter and only let cool air from the fender and behind the headlight in.

I got the fender idea from ALDIVE when he cut a hole in the side firewall and installed some adapter there. I remember my friend with a 5.0 Mustang tellin me his intake sucked air in from the fender so I took this idea and combined it with aldives.

I bought a Spectre air intake inlet (made to be connected to the firewall or any hole cut for that matter), and Spectre filter adapter made to connect a hose to the top of a filter. I then bought a sheet of Lexan for the shield, air ducting pipe for the piping then some clamps. Everything was finished off with high temp black paint.

Below are the results. The pics are kind of bad, I shall take more tomarrow. It started to storm so I had to cut the project short. Tomarrow I can finish it off.

Again these pics suck, but heres the idea

Here I tryed to take a pic of the shield. Its mounted to the intake mount on the right where you see the two bolts holding it up

Here is where the air ducting going into the top of the filter from the fender

Here is the fender wall adapter. The hole is where the HID balast was mounted but I had to remount it. Again its hard to see, just for an idea

I plan on going thru and repainting everything black tomarrow so it looks clean then cleaning it all up for a clean install. More pics tomarrow!

Unfortunaty, that mod will get you nothing, well done nevertheless

Your telling me blocking hot engine air from getting to the air filter and sucking colder air from the fender is going to give me nothing?

If you can prove that the Mod works, so be it,whats the IAT pre mod? and post mod?
You can sawzall the crap out of your fenderwell as Al did,And state that this is a great Mod.
How do you know it's great mod?Measure your temps, and prove what you did is good.
All i am telling you is that, it will not do squat JMO.

Honestly, I am not a man of "post the numbers, measure the temps, prove the results on paper" bla bla bla. If the mod makes sense to me, I am going to do it. Does a fan in my intake like the tornado make sense to me? No. Does having a shield that blocks the hot air from your engine from getting to the intake make sense to me? yes. K&N, Voland and other companies have heat shield on their products so why not? And the fenderwell idea was taken from ford's engineers which is how the old 5.0's get their air from what I understand. I was going to do a ram air deal like you did but whats the point if by the time im at the speed where air will actually be rammed into my intake, the temp in the engine bay is the say as outside? Is this a great mod?

I never said what I did was a great mod, I never say any of my mods are great. All I do is come up with ideas, make them come true, post the results, and hope to inspire/help others out. I think the only mod I said was great was the HID mod and thats becaue I can actually see better at night.

I dont have to prove anything to anyone. My truck, my rules, my money. I'm just here to learn and help people, not to prove to people my "driveway customs" work

I think your IMCO was also a great mod... :D
