My old intake (Ebay MAF adapter and Rezton Stainless Filter) was not good enough for me and I felt like it needed more. I wanted to add a heat shield and something to draw cool air from the fender so I did.
The ideas for the shield came from the K&N intakes and are so famous. I wanted something to block hot air from the filter and only let cool air from the fender and behind the headlight in.
I got the fender idea from ALDIVE when he cut a hole in the side firewall and installed some adapter there. I remember my friend with a 5.0 Mustang tellin me his intake sucked air in from the fender so I took this idea and combined it with aldives.
I bought a Spectre air intake inlet (made to be connected to the firewall or any hole cut for that matter), and Spectre filter adapter made to connect a hose to the top of a filter. I then bought a sheet of Lexan for the shield, air ducting pipe for the piping then some clamps. Everything was finished off with high temp black paint.
Below are the results. The pics are kind of bad, I shall take more tomarrow. It started to storm so I had to cut the project short. Tomarrow I can finish it off.
Again these pics suck, but heres the idea
Here I tryed to take a pic of the shield. Its mounted to the intake mount on the right where you see the two bolts holding it up
Here is where the air ducting going into the top of the filter from the fender
Here is the fender wall adapter. The hole is where the HID balast was mounted but I had to remount it. Again its hard to see, just for an idea
another
I plan on going thru and repainting everything black tomarrow so it looks clean then cleaning it all up for a clean install. More pics tomarrow!
