Maybe someone can "direct" me to the proper place to post something like this?
A friend has a 97 Explorer, 4.0, OHV. Has had a "low power" problem for awhile now. Runs OK in neutral, fair going down the road, but doggy on acceleration and hard to start. He put in new fuel pump and filter a while back, new plugs and wires. Had a cam sensor code, so got a new sensor and "syncronizer" and that took care of that code. Had a B1S2 code, so found a damaged O2 (post cat) and replaced it. At each "interval" of trying things, it has gotten marginally better and better, but still no power. I DID notice that o2's show NO voltage and NO switching on my cheapo code reader. Reads O volts and -100% fuel trims, even when warm. The only thing that SEEMED to work, at that time, was when they changed the fuel filter--it ran OK for a week or so, then back to NFG again. I'm thinking we need to start with basics and check that fuel pressure and check/or try a new MAF sensor. Am I on the right track or anyone else got suggestions as to what to check or try?
