Im wondering if i need to get a new set of shocks after shackles and TT or if it'd be better just to keep them stock? I was looking at either Monroe's or Rancho's but am very open to any suggestions.

If the factory/ones that are currently installed on your EX are ok/serviceable, they are fine. at one time i had over 3" of lift with add a spring, and longer torsion bolts, and my shocks didn't bottom/top out. but if they are suspect, Monroes are a good/mid priced shock.

Seeing as you have a '97 Explorer, I would swap out the factory shocks. They're guaranteed to be bad by now.
I have the same set up as Dora actually. (Says in my Signature)
It really improved the ride. It sure won't ride like a Cadillac, but it rides like a truck.
It's a pretty easy install too. Just get the right tools.

I put the Monroe Sensa-Trac load adjusting shocks on my Explorer after shackles and add a leaf. These shocks gave an extra inch or so of lift .

Same here rides great but I went with bilstiens heavy duty in the front great stance and traction

I did Bilsteins front and rear but I would recommend getting bigger tires before upgrading the shocks. I noticed the most improvement after the tires

Newbie here. I see TT a lot. What does it refer to ?
Thanks, Woody
