2001 explorer sport
Hey guys, happy to join this forum as ive used it to answer a few questions i had about my 2001 explorer sport 4x4.
Since buying it a month ago ive been pleased day in and day out. Love the ride and its much more comfortable than my 500whp civic haha which is the cause of me buying the explorer, to tow the civic to the drag strip a few weekends a year.
Anyway, ive been reading into the tt and before i try id like to know if it looks like its already been done on my rig. It seems to be alittle higher than what id expect to see from stock. Also in the pics is where im guessing the torsion screws are. If not please correct me haha
Anyways if anyone could let me know if the shackles look stock and everything else that would be great. Thanks!

Looks like it's sitting right but those aren't the stock leafs.

Thats what i had thought since ive read somewhere that stock only has 1 leaf ?
A buddy of mine said the shackles attached to the leaf suspension didnt look stock either so thats why i figured the tt may have already been done.

Looks like stock shackles, just different leafs.
The 2 Doors only have a single leaf

Ok great. So the extra springs would infact raise the vehicle up a bit?
Heres a weird fact. I live in nova scotia, canada so im not sure if the same rule applies everywhere or not....
but i went to uhaul to rent a car trailer to tow my car with, and they said they arent allpwed to attach ANY trailer to an explorer from 1994-2010 because of that issue in 1998 with the firestone tires. Kinda sucks for me since its the only place that rents trailers locally lol

It's the same in America. Can't rent a Uhaul with any explorer. Yes the extra springs will raise it and make it ride stiffer. Helps with towing, so I'd suggest you keep it that way

Ok thanks alot for the quick replies! So far im liking it. Maybe not so much when stuff goes wrong but until then its a fun rig. Only issue is a cel on . Evap canister or something. The tool to lower the spare is missing so i will have to wait till i find one to clean the valve and canister out.

My 1st Explorer was an '01 Sport. They had a saggy ass because of that leaf spring so the aftermarket leafs you have would give it that level look. If memory serves the spare removal tool is under the hood (weird place and it looks like those old school hood props) and it should snap into your tire iron - plug it above the bumper and crank away. Or fit an impact gun on the end and it's down in no time.
