if you jack up one side of the rear andleave the other on the ground, try spinning the airborn tire and see if it willgo. If no = limited slip orlocker......
Yep thats what I was saying, Can limp it a bit. I figured I could get one wheel off the ground and spin it but I am guessing already that it is LS. I have a guy here in town that said it was one of the first lifted Explorers in Anchorage back in 94-95. He seemed to know something about it but he hasn't responded to my post. I may email him and ask more detailed questions to see what he can remember.
He thought it originally belonged to an Airman that was shipped overseas and he sold it.
If the radius arm broke then definitely a Superlift. That is a common problem with their radius arms. If you can't beef it up then get some Skyjackers to replace them. I'm sure you Skyjacker radius arm owners can back me on this one!
I was going to try and warranty them to get the beefier one's Skyjacker now has. But if I can't then I would go ahead and buy either Skyjacker or Duff.
1001 - Not even. If I were going to fix it up and sell it, I would look for a young kid with money that would pay big bucks. To be honest why ever get rid of it!? It's a dedicated trail rig. Something for me to work on when I'm bored.
Its the perfect long term project vehicle. Who knows down the road maybe SAS, Roll cage, Perry's fenders, Detroit locker, Atlas II and if it would fit a 429 big block. I really like the idea of a snorkel and waterproofing engine compartment. Or maybe something fun remember up here we have the largest population of Grizzlies so you could run into them 4 wheelin.
The Duff arms are a nice product, the transmission x memeber is very well designed, and the radius pivot brackets are adjustable for your lift, however they require you to use the Duff dual shock hoop and thatthing is a PITA to say the least. They also do not curve around the tire like the Skyjackers do (similar to the stock arms). Superlift and Duff both have this problem, tires will rub.
The Skyjacker arms are hands down the best on the market for a bolt on extended arm, worth every penny ($500 worth) I wheel with people who have all three and the Skyjackers are by far considered the best.
Of course if Superlift gives you a new one, you cant beat free, plus the Superlift design has been updated many times to fix all the problems they have had.
