newbie here with question on rear view mirror

have an explorer 03 ,, my rear view mirror has a green light with a switch next to it ,,what is this green light for ? sorry for the stupid question

Have you ever drove at night time and somebody behind you have their high-beams on or really bright head lights? It is an auto dimmer which dims the light so it wont blind u when you look in the rear view.

Yep- when the green light is on, the electrochromatic mirror is active.

Every time I get into my truck; start it up. put my seat belt on and turn off that stupid mirror. only time it came in handy was when I got pulled over at night and the spot light was on my truck... I also folded in my driver side mirror. I show that cop :-D

I was wondering the same thing! I just leave it on... I got used to driving like that. I actually kind of like it, haha...
