Just joined the forum today after purchasing an 06 Eddie Bauer Explorer. I've always used forums as a great way to get info on the cars I own, so I'm happy to have run across this site. I have a question on the keys. My explorer only came with 1 key, and it's in rough looking shape.

I searched the forum and saw a lot of people are buying the fusion keys where the fob is built in. I'm a little confused though. I've read that you have to have 2 existing keys in order to program a third yourself... and I've also read that you can program it if u buy 2 blank keys. So which is it?

Can i purchase 2 uncut Fusion keys, have them cut, and then program them myself to my explorer?

Thanks !

You need to have 2 programmed keys.

If you got the truck from a dealer, I would go back and see if they would help you come up with 2 working keys. You buy the keys and they program them. Or something that works for you. If it was private, see if they will work with you and find the other key, or someway help you get the second key. just my 2 cents, good luck Pete

Thanks guys. Purchased from a Subaru dealership and there is no second key. I'm just going to purchase a new one and have a locksmith cut and code it.
