Whats going on people! My name is Edwin a single father of 2 boys (8&5) and last week I was given (yes given!)a 2002 Explorer XLT for some reason my recently moved-in neighbors offered me this SUV for free :thumbsup: which IMO is in excellent condition! It has 86k miles, he gave me the 10 in TV, sound system with a Bazooka "NOS" tank, DVD player, alarm/auto-starter system, air-horn... the truck was sitting in a public parking lot for 2 years since my neighbor had purchased a brand new chevy impala and his wife doesn't drive and his son messed up his license so I guess he saw me wit my POS 97 Saturn SL1 n felt bad lmao! Anyway take a look n tell what u think.....

oh n btw once I got the truck, I went to my regular jiffy spot and had flushed the motor and obviously changed the oil/filter, jiffy guy said my power steering was dirty so I flushed that, I had the AC fully serviced, he recommended to changed the 3 differentials fluids but I read through Google that these trucks are known for surprising tranny failures, so I declined that until I hear from you guys, who own one, weather I should or don't do it. Got the truck fully detailed - interior, exterior, engine steamed cleaned. Im very much a ebay shopper, I guess since the truck has been sitting for 2 years, the hood latch was rusted so it took 3 guys to try to open the hood but today I had replaced that with one from a 2005 explorer, I also installed hood and window deflectors and 8K HIDs

All compliments, complaints, suggestions will be gladly accepted...thanks for spending time in reading my novel lol.....

G'day, great score:):thumbsup::thumbsup:

@ lynchy wa - Thanks!

I am trying to post pics but cant find where I can....

you have to be elite to post pics, so make a photo bucket or a link. That is awsome you got a free EX, I wish I could find some neighbors like that, they must be good people. I am looking forward to pics, from what you said it sounds really nice. Do you have any plans for the EX. Welcome to the site.

@ BrooklynBay - it has 86K miles, engine is quiet, u barely feel or hear the transmission shift, the only downside is that it has different tires brands, all the same number size but different tire brand and tread and since my mother has a AWD toyota matrix and as we speak she has a rear differential problem due to that same scenario so im not taking any chances, I am going to put 18's on the truck with new tires. The other temporary downside is that my neighbor told me it has no emergency brakes so I have to get that checked by my mechanic. Besides that shes very clean, very quiet, very smooth truck.

geauitful EX and you are one lucky guy for that kind of come up. I only saw you needed to replace that missing bumper panel. Welcome to the EX family.

That thing is clean. Nice score. Welcome to the best Exploder resource anywhere.

runs pretty well you can slightly hear the intake sound but its not ricey lol

going to attempt to change fuel filter...heard its a B*h to do but gonna take up the challenge....just hope I dont break the plastic tabs

also going to order new tires online, I have 18" rims that the new tires r going into just if someone can confirm if the size is correct for this truck - 255 55 r18?

Welcome to the site Edwin it's great to have you here.
