Newbie with transmission issues in my 98 XLT.

Good morning,

Dutifully following the instructions to post for the first time : )

We have a 98 Explorer XLT that doesnt seem to like to shift when driving it for the first time each day. It will go from 1st - 2nd..but then will just wind up the RPM's instead of shifting to 3rd... Sometimes feathering the gas pedal will convince it to shift...

After about 20 minutes of driving it is convinced it has a 3rd and 4th gear and starts to shift as expected.

This website was suggested to me by a mechanic friend..and I hope to find some answers.
