hmmm...the bass in my HU is no longer. I tried to turn my bass level up, but still, no bass. what would cause for there to be no bass?

Do you have the stock subwoofer in the back? If so, your stock amp may have blown like mine did. After that the Bass went by-by.

I have the same problem in my 97 with the JBL sound system. Any help that any one could give would be appreciated.

no stock sub. just the standard 4 door speakers. they were working perfect just a few days ago. oddest thing. frustrating too. music sounds like crap without bass.

How could I test the Amp, so that i don't waste money on replaceing a working part?

have you done anything in the last few days (ie adjust the head unit besides the volume or anything else)

I have a 97 Limited w/JBL system and sub. When I bought it the previous owner said everything works on the vehicle except not much bass in the stereo. The next day I pulled the metal grill on the sub, unscrewed the 4 screws and to my surprise, one of the speaker leads had come off. I pinched it a little with some pliers, put it back on and Wala' ......I've pimped my Ride :)

That may be all it is for you.....just vibrated loose. Easy check

Thanks, I'll try that.

where is the stock amp located? i have the same problem..

hmm. i realized my HU is equalized for a stock subwoofer to be connected, so there in fact isn't anything wrong with the HU itself. I just need to hook up some subs. mmmkay. thanks 4 the help everyone.

I seem to have the same problem too! I've got a high/low converter wired to the stock 6CD changer and that is wired to an MTX amp and subs. I took out the factory sub, but left the factory amp. They worked aright for the first few days, then no bass. I've felt my MTX amp (I installed it where the factory sub used to be) and it's pretty darn hot. I'm thinking it's because the new mexico sun is cookng the inside of my X. I know the sub amp is getting power because the light comes on, and the subs move a little, but not enough to make bass.

Does high heat cause audio equipmentto semi-fail like this?

Clarkkent, the factry amp is just to the left of the factory sub behind the panel. BTW, it's a pain in the butt to get to; you have to remove the entire panel to really do anything to it. (At least that's how it is on my 02.

On the equalized part of your HU, set it as if you have no subs...you activated a Xover on your highs to keep them from getting base. Lots of nice HUs have this feature.

how would i go about taking that panel off to get to my amp? thanks.

You mean set the bass and treble up high? I already did that and it does make some bass, but not like it did when I first installed them.

Clarkkent, pop the center panel where the rear door is, then pop all the little plastic buttons on the right side. You'll need I think a 60 torx head to take off the rear seatbelt too.

thanks.
