i had my 2000 XLT checked today because it was runny very strange, the auto shop said that when they hoocked it up to their computer for a diaognostic the screen came back "no communication", it still throws both bank too lean codes but the CEL doesnot work, the mechanic said that its either a leak in an intake hose somewhere or a blower motor (i forget what he exactly said) when i called the dealership they told me that it might just be a problem with the computer, i was wondering how much is it to replace the computer and could it really cause the truck to run strangely?

If there's no communication, how do they know what the codes are?

advanced auto parts hooked it up to a hand scanner, the repair shop used a diagnostic computer. dont know what the difference is but they told me to take it to a local ford dealer(i have to go anyway because i got a recall for the speed control) luckily they didnt charge me to look at it
