No cruise control

My cruise control quit working the other day. I did my brakes last weekend and a lower intake manifold gasket the other week.

I checked fuses under the dash and looked for a vacuum hose that may have popped off and they all checked out fine. Is there a fuse under the hood? Any other ideas on what to check?

Sorry to hear of the cruise control failure. The CC on my 1994 is currently out of order, but will work for months and months and then take vacation. It then "fixes" itself and once again, works for months and months. ???
I'll keep an eye on your thread. I am anxious to learn about these cruise gizmos and what it takes to fix'em.

PS There's a *rear* ABS on these old Explorers?????

all explorers came with at least rear ABS.

The ABS relay also runs the cruise. No other check engine light or anything like that? Check to see that your horn operates next. There are fuses under the hood too btw.... on the passenger side there is a little box approx 8" by 2". Take the lid off and you will see fuses.

I'll see if I can find my 93 manual and give you the cruise control lowdown.... I don't remember the diagnostics off hand.

Horn works. No check engine light or abs light. I'll check that abs relay/fuse next chance I get. I'll have to check the throttle linkage too, maybe the cruise control one came off since I did have that part off for my intake gasket.

Subscribed. I am having the same problem. It worked when I got it, but now it doesn't work. Sucks as I'm going on an 800KM drive and would be nice to have cruise!

Don't forget the "brain box" for the cruise that's over the glove box.
Mine was acting up and I replaced that - no problems since.

My cruise is out too. So there is a hose or linkage from the gas pedal, and off the intake manifold?

My resume button is missing on mine. Horn works. It's a 5 speed.

If the button is missing on yours, I'd say it is more likely your switch on the steering wheel is damaged or inoperable

the cruise box you mentioned in an earlier post? depends how much $$$ you gotta have for it.

This box is "normally" the problem? I'm new to diagnosing ford cruise issues so bear with me if I ask semi retarded questions...

I've read about a vacuum hose from gas pedal, and a hose near intake manifold, where are these located? I mean obvious locations...gas pedal and intake, but exactly where. It's kinda cold out here in NC to be fiddling around with stuff LOL

No, I was talking about the switch. I had a steering wheel with the metal frame all bent up, but it had a nice cover, so I used that to replace the cover on my dad's. Saved the horn button and the cruise control buttons just cause I cannot throw anything away.

Remember, junk is something you keep around for 10 years and then throw away 1 week before you need it.

anyway, if you want the switch, pm me. It is not like it is worth any money really....
