Have you checked the fluid level ?

Oil pump gears could be broken. It happened to me with my Bronco II.

pump gears.... that sounds logical, when i check the fluid level with the engine off i made a note of the level on the stick and made another note of the level with the engine running and the level bearly droped so it's got to have somthing to do with the pump...?

No movement in any selected gear usually means no oil pressure. No change in the oil level running vs stopped sounds as if the pump is not moving the oil, or the level would drop with the engine running (the pump will fill the converter and other passages). So you may indeed be having some problem related to the pump.
