No Fuel Pressure

My X died at a light the other day and after i got it towed home we figured out it has no fuel pressure so i'm going to replace the fuel pump and fpr

Any suggestions on a brand? Figure if i'm going to do this imma do it right, was going to do the whole fuel system but gotta fix other things on it first.

start by replacing fuel relay, making sure wiring is ok, and inertia switch is working properly.

than get fuel pump and buy fpr only if you need it.

Ditto, you need to know that power is going to the pump first. Can you hear any noise from the pump when you turn the key on? Don't crank it, just turn the key on, the pump should make noise for a second.

Also in the passenger side floorboard pull the carpet back and look for a grey thing with two wires on it. It will have a red button on the top that you wont see very well but its there. Its about the size of a dime. A little smaller. make sure the wires and the button is pressed all the way down.

I had a similar problem today on my 89. It was hard starting, and it kept cutting out at traffic lights. I didn't hear the fuel pump prime, but there was a check engine light coming on when I turned the key. I managed to get it into a parking space, and jumped the contacts where the fuel pump relay plugs into (green socket). I heard the pump kick on, then I was able to drive again to get another relay.

Already had the fuel relay replaced like 2 weeks ago and the pump makes no noise but i'll try the inertia switch

Also, check the connector on the fuel pump harness. There is a 4-wire cable that comes off the top of the fuel pump, runs to the rear, then connects to the main harness, which runs forward aling the frame rail. The connector between the two is attached to the driver's side frame, near the spare tire. Check the connector for corrosion or a borken wire.

It might be an intermittent electrical problem within the fuel pump/sender assembly. Unplug the 4 prong connector as previously stated, and test the connections directly on the side going to the fuel pump/sender assembly.

Inertia switch was a no go and the wiring seems fine. so before i go out any suggestions on a pump?

did you replace fuel pump relay?

also check 20 amp fuse #7 in power distribution box under hood.

You can test the inertia switch with just a resistance check.

Check for the main voltage with the fuel pump relay removed, then carefully check the actual four terminals. Make sure that they are not being pushed down into the PD box, losing contact when the relay is installed. I have read of that happening twice with other wires. Use just a tiny screwdriver, don't touch anything else, but gently push down into the terminals.

When you confirm that you have power getting to the fuel pump wiring at the tank, that's when you begin to do the pump. Regards,

Okkkkkk so i was looking at the wrong fuse, it was blown, fuel filter was clogged and the pump cumbled and broke when we took it out so replaced filter and pump put in a new fuse and it runs

BUT

now when i try WOT it doesnt run right it'll..... i wanna say bog at times and at other times it hits random flat spots in the RPMs but if i slowly push the pedal down it'll be fine...any suggestions?

glad you found which fuse was for the fuel pump, i hope my post helped.

try running some seafoam through the brake booster.

put some seafaom in tank.one or more of the injectors are probably gummed up.

reset the computer.
