Here's the problem. My heat and A/C won't turn on. At first it was only once in a while, and it would typically kick in if i revved the engine, went in reverse for a while, or just waited. Now it's gotten to the point where it won't turn on for days at a time. It's really cold, and I hate wearing a winter jacket when I drive. Any help would be most appreciated as I don't even know where to begin to troubleshoot this problem. Here's some of the things it does

*When the heat IS on, the knobs do work
*When heat works, A/C works, and vice versa
*Both times i have engaged 4x4 i have lost heat for two days at least before it would kick in
*91 XLT 4.0

Thanks alot

Nick

I hate to do this, but i'm gonna bump this once

One of you guys has had to have a heater brake. the search wasen't much help either. Allthough, it looks like the heater takes a back seat. i put radiator fluid in tonight, and it all just ran right out through the bottom of the truck. looks like behind the water pump, but theres no way to see. *sigh* If I can't fix it myself in a week, my dad says it goes to the junkyard. He's tired of fixing it. Some of you undoubtably will say, go take it to a mechanic. I don't have enough money to eat being in college, much less to spend on a luxury such as a car.

Sounds like the heater fan (blower) is bad OR the resister that goes to the blower is bad.

The heater is just hot water going into theater core, its up to the blower to get the heat into the cab...

If the blower/blower resistor is bad (search on those, I could have sworn there was a thread about replacing the resistor) when the truck is warmed up, you can put the lever to heat and set it to panel/floor... When your moving you will get heat...

Hopefully that will help some...
