I recently overheated my 1992 Ford explorer E.B. due to head gasket issues. I Got it back together only to realize that at 55mph the vehicle was running at about 3000rpm and didnt feel like it got in that last shift. Seemed a little high so i checked into things and found that my vacuum modulator was allowing ATF to suck up into my intake. So i replaced it hoping the problem would go away. No such Luck. It fixed the ATF leak but the it still wont get that last shift, nor will it downshift at higher speeds on hard acceleration. I didnt know if maybe some sort of band adjustment was in order or if there was anything that could be done without transmission removal. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
