I went fishing yesterday and after driving down a rough road, found I no longer had reverse. It also does nothing when I put it in drive. Did hid a few rocks, but nothing I felt was serious, and tranny and transfer case look fine.Plenty of fluid, too.

It goes into 2nd, and will run through all gears, including overdrive and cruise control works. But nothing happens when I put it in reverse or drive.

Any ideas? Kind of in a bind, here.

Thanks!
Jaime

Actually, it now seems to be working in drive. Just no reverse. It's going through all forward gears, including overdrive. I know this, because I can turn off the overdrive at highway speeds and feel it change gears.

I forgot to mention that this is a OHV motor.

Also, I did have it in 4 wheel low during some of that trail drive.

When I put it in reverse, I can hear a slight change, and it feels like it wants to go, but it doesn't.

Just double checked it, and I do have low gear. When I shift from low, up through the gears 2nd, drive, neutral and then into reverse, it starts to move slightly, but stops.

One thing you might want to look at...

Is the low/reverse band setting nut still tight or did it back off the anchor? If the band adjuster backed off the tranny will not properly engage the band and the tranny will slip and not move the vehicle especially in reverse...

Before writing off the tranny I would get underneath the truck and check the shifter linkage and the band adjustments...

I can't check it yet, but think you may be right about the linkage....
