I have a 2002 Ford Explorer however A few times this summer when I get in my explorer after work It will not start, it seems to happen more when it is hot out. It did this a few times last summer also. Put the key in, dash lights come on nothing happens engine doesn't crank. The red light flashes on the dash. Usually after repetely trying for 15-20 minutes it will start. I personally think this is a pats issue but i have taken it to ford last week and last summer and it always seems to work perfectly when at the dealership and there are no codes when they scan it. THe dealership says they cannot fix it untill the issue happens for them. I have changed the transiever and checked both of the keys. I only seem to have a problem in the summer when hot, happened about a total of 10 times last summer , had to have it towed once and it started fine the next morning. Please help. thanks.

Do you still have the origional battery? Could also be a battery cable connection problem on the starter, or ground. If you still have the origional battery, I'd get a new one, as it's seven years old.

if it was an issue with the PATS System i don`t think your dash lights would come on. Check the battery. Keep it Simple

Continued issues

Battery is newer, connections are good, the starter makes no clicking or nothing when this happens. The reason i thought it may be a pats issue is because the red theft light flashes rapidly when the no start problems happens. Thanks.
