I would say it is. Most car makers use the same wiring harness so u can just put on the stuff later. I think u will need a relay too.

thanks

any idea where this relay should be located? and where i could purchase one for cheap?

would anybody happen to have a diagram of the fog light system?

By the time you get done buying the right relays and a new bezel and fog light switch, you'll have added considerable cost to your fog lights. And the stock wiring is a small gauge and not meant for much for than a stock fog light. I'd get an aftermarket set, wire it up with 14g wiring and put in an auxiliary switch somewhere. It's very easy to run the wiring and I think you'll be much happier.

well the thing is when i got my explorer about 3-4 months ago the bezel was cracked so i bought anohter one off ebay the cheapest one i could find that had the 4x4 switch also had the fog light switch so that wouldnt be a problem but i was thinking if the wiring is alaready there i can instal the realy that runs to were the stock lights hook up but instead of hooking my aftermarket lights up to that feed i was going to put another relay there and then run a hot wire to it that way when i hit my switch inside it will turn on the realy to turn on a relay that would then turn on the lights
would this work? ha then i would also need a relay to overide the high beams

If you go off a stock relay, there are a couple different tricks you can do to override the high beam problem. One involves clipping one of the blade of the relay and the other is making a jumper. Just search for high beams and fogs and you'll find it. I'm not sure where you'd plug the lights in though, so you will need a wiring diagram for that.

I dont have a diagram but the diagram doesnt show where the relays & wires are. It just shows what they are connected to, not where it is.
You can still use the switch to run any aux light. Doesnt have to be on factory wiring.

The relay is (reportedly) located under the air intake box. It is a small, black, rectangular box, where it would be located. In order to get to this box, the air intake box needs to come out (good luck with that). You can get a relay at AutoZone. I however agree that you should just run your own wiring and lights, at this point. I recommand going with 14 gage wire so it is possible to run 100 watt bulbs.

FYI - if you do use the stock wiring (without any Fab.), your fog lights will turn off when you turn on your high beams..... it blows!

thanks guys so how do i close this post

No need to close anything david.
Posts stay up so others can find info also.
